WILL SANDY

Will works on projects across various sites, scales & styles, from furniture design and urban interventions, small-scale architectural projects, to larger strategies and masterplanning. As a creative and collaborative practitioner, he has proven that working across multiple design disciplines and engaging with multiple stakeholders can bridge the gap between clients, local government and community.

Will injects his unique knowledge of socially-driven public realm projects into the larger strategic and masterplanning schemes, working up from ultra-local interventions, larger public realm schemes to strategic and framework projects, meeting in the middle to design and deliver engaging and impactful schemes.

Will specialises in high-quality, flexible or temporary projects that engage new audiences. Passionate about the natural and built environment, his projects help inform, influence and inspire the potential of the future permanent public realm, encouraging public participation and feedback from the outset, thus enabling further project evolution. In 2019, Will was appointed by the British Council to lead the Reframing Spaces project in Caracas, Venezuela, which led to the development of the Catalyst Cube. The project was selected as a finalist in the international Tactical Urbanism NOW design competition. Will sits on the Design Council Expert Panel as a specialist advisor, exploring how temporary and meanwhile projects can play a vital role in the development and regeneration of our urban environments.

Will has been working in the built environment for over 10 years, across various studios and practices, founding his eponymous landscape architecture and design studio and co-founded the community focused The Edible Bus Stop design studio. He recently stepped down to explore how he can integrate his specialist skills into larger masterplans and strategy projects, becoming an Associate at international Landscape Architecture and Urbanism studio, McGregor Coxall. Alongside professional practice, he co-leads the first year landscape architecture design studio at Greenwich University.
