Exhibitor FAQ

General Questions

What is the basic level of PPE we are required to wear?

Safe footwear should prevent slipping, nails or sharp objects penetrating the sole or heavy items injuring the foot if dropped during movement or fitting.
These shoes are readily available to purchase online from websites like Amazon for as little as £8.99 a pair however most people have shoes already in their possession such as the ones shown below in the top 2 rows which negates the need to buy anything new.

Examples such as those shown on the top 2 rows are acceptable at ALL times during build up and break down.

Good footwear

To be clear you DO NOT have to purchase steel toe capped boots if you already have alternative footwear in your possession as shown in the top 2 rows of images above.

Trainers/sports shoes will only be permitted AFTER 2pm on the last day of build, examples of which are below:

Training shoes

Examples shown below are STRICTLY NOT acceptable footwear at ANY TIME. You will not be granted access to the hall wearing soft soles, such as a tennis shoe, high heels or open toed sandals at ANY time during build up and break down.

Bad shoes

We exhibit at many shows in which PPE is not required, why is PPE enforced at Ecobuild?

These safety footwear guidelines are applicable for ALL contractors and exhibitors wishing to enter the halls during a build-up or breakdown.
As Organisers, it is UBM’s policy to manage the show in accordance with best industry practices, our own health and safety standards alongside current UK legislation such as the Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015.
UBM has a minimum PPE requirement for onsite at ALL of our events - this requires all personnel to wear suitable & sufficient safe footwear & a hi-vis jacket.
