Altecnic advises to go with the flow

Description

Altecnic is responding to the announcement that Britain is facing a widespread drought this summer by campaigning for more awareness amongst plumbers about the water and energy conserving benefits of installing flow regulators. In light of the stark forecast by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of quality of plumbing equipment is calling for the industry to focus on educating consumers on the substantial savings and environmental benefits of installing Altecnic’s simple to fit patented water flow regulator, Calflow Plus. The average household uses 150 litres of water per person per day. Based on a conservative estimate of 12 litres per minute flow rate, installing Calflow Plus, which retails at just over £13, halves this to approximately 6 litres per minute, resulting in a potential reduction of around £87 a year on a water bill and £19 in energy savings. Three years after having Calflow Plus installed it is estimated utility bills can reduced by as much as £300*. Installing Calflow Plus on all outlets would also save approximately 9,125 litres of water per person per annum. Altecnic’s technical director, Gary Perry commented: “The figures speak for themselves, there are considerable savings to be made financially and environmentally by installing Calflow Plus. As more of the country faces the prospect of drought, we’d like to see plumbers advising their customers about the benefits of installing relatively inexpensive flow regulators and really driving home the important water conservation message. Recommending Calflow Plus makes obvious sense for both plumbers and their customers, generating new business opportunities that offer consumers genuine cost-savings.” Calflow Plus is quick and easy to install and has been developed and manufactured to the highest quality Italian standards, earning WRAs approval and the Waterwise marque. The clever device incorporates a filtration mesh to prevent debris entering and damaging valves. It also aids even distribution in a multi-outlet new build and are capable of regulating water flow between 2 – 18 litres a minute, operating up to an intlet pressure of 16 bar. More details about Calflow Plus can be found at www.altecnic.co.uk or by calling the Altecnic trade line on 01785 218200. *OFWAT gives the cost of supply and sewage at £0.002 per litre

Altecnic’s HIU hits ecobuild

Description

The UK’s next generation of centralised intelligent water management systems are arriving at ecobuild as Altecnic officially launch its technologically advanced Heating Interface Unit (HIU) on stand N2246. The UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of accredited plumbing equipment is inviting visitors onto its stand to find out more about central plant systems, heat interface units and the benefits this new technology will offer for the construction and plumbing industry. Industry professionals will have access to expert advice and see first hand how the new compact and lightweight unit, which features electronic controls, compensated heating temperatures and insulated covers, can help consultants, architects and plumbing specialists meet Part L of UK Building Regulations, which regulates energy consumption and the carbon footprint of buildings. Altecnic’s patent-pending dirt separator, DIRTMAG is also being showcased on its purpose build stand. The versatile device features a revolutionary removable external magnet designed to enable fast and effective particle release without shutting down a system. Alongside DIRTMAG, Altecnic’s Renewables division will be displaying a full range of fully accredited solar products and its European ‘A’ efficiency rated thermostatic radiator valve, Ecocal. Altecnic sales director, Chris Ramster commented: “As market leaders we’re continually looking at ways to drive the industry into new and emerging markets. The UK Heat Interface Unit market is relatively new, and mainly utilises European products that have changed little in twenty years. We’ve invested in bringing new products to market that offer significant technical and performance improvements over these older existing products and make conforming to Part L easier and more straight forward.”

Altecnic achieves ‘A’ for efficiency

Description

As part of its commitment to promoting responsible domestic energy usage, Altecnic’s fully accredited Ecocal thermostatic radiator valve has achieved the coveted European ‘A’ efficiency rating. Developed and manufactured to the highest international standards in Italy, Altecnic’s patented Ecocal has been tested against the stringent requirements of the European Valve Manufactures’ Association, ‘Thermostatic Efficiency Label’ (TELL). The rigorous process classifies the energy rating of individual valves by examining the extent to which the user can detect immediate cost-savings and how easy the device is to fit and operate, all valves must also be BS EN 215 certified. Specifically engineered for both retro-fit and new installations, Ecocal is available in 8mm, 10mm and 15mm and is designed with a serrated sliding tail piece allowing easy installation by helping to prevent alterations to pipework and ensuring PTFE sealant bonds securely. The straight or angled device has a fully reversible body for either vertical or horizontal fit that is suitable for on flow or return pipework, providing installers with ultimate flexibility. Stylishly designed to complement modern living, the Ecocal is available in a white and chrome finish with matching lockshields and are liquid filled to instantly react to changes in ambient temperature. A positive off position also allows the radiator to be removed without the need to be drained. Gary Perry, technical director commented: “Our commitment to product excellence has driven us to develop Ecocal to be one of the most energy efficient thermostatic valves on the market. As with every product in our range, our customers know that when they specify an Ecocal they are assured of a high quality, fully accredited device that are easy to fit and maintain.”

DIRTMAG set to revolutionise dirt separator market

Description

A pioneering magnetic dirt separator has been launched by Altecnic, featuring a revolutionary removable magnet designed to enable fast and effective particle release, as well as offering a highly effective dual filtration. Launched officially at PHEX in November, the versatile patent-pending DIRTMAG filters both magnetic and non-magnetic particles continuously and is available immediately as a horizontal or vertical system, with or without a tailored insulation jacket. Offering the ultimate in flexibility, both versions fit a full range of pipe sizes, and the horizontal system even has the facility to add a Minical air vent. The launch follows an extensive development programme, which drew on wide-ranging research of installers, facility managers and distributors and as a result of the feedback, Altecnic focused on maximising usability, performance and ease of maintenance. Engineered and tested to the highest standards using the latest European technology, Altecnic’s breakthrough product overcomes a number of challenges faced by installers and service engineers when servicing traditional dirt and air separators. The powerful, external magnet belt pulls the metallic particles against the sides of the DIRTMAG chamber, trapping and safely storing them from costly system components such as boilers and pumps. The design and shape of the body, creates an area of low pressure, just above the filter chamber, reducing flow velocity and allowing all particles, both metallic and non-metallic, to easily drop out of suspension. The non-metallic particles are then trapped in the internal stainless steel, gauze filter. Cleaning and servicing is also very easy as the external magnetic belt simply unclips allowing the metallic particles to fall into the bottom of the integral drain tap, ready to be flushed away. Once flushed, the belt simply clips back on and the cleaning process starts again. As the magnets are external to the flow, there is no need for a time consuming and messy strip down and plumbers are assured the system is completely clean. The DIRTMAG is the latest in a line of innovations from the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of quality plumbing equipment, Altecnic and its parent company Caleffi, which is best known in the dirt and air separator market for its durable Dirtcal. Gary Perry, Altecnic’s technical director commented: “By listening to both installers and distributors, we identified what they really needed and have combined a number of innovations to radically transform the way we protect and prolong the life of heating systems. “The DIRTMAG not only looks strikingly different with its distinctive magnetic belt, but it also represents a major leap forward in how technology is being used in this market. Installers can maintain the DIRTMAG without shutting down the system, minimising disruption, and can physically demonstrate to their customers how effective the device is, by showing them the debris that is collected inside the system, quickly and easily.” For more information about Altecnic’s DIRTMAG and other products in its range visit www.altecnic.co.uk or call 01785 218200.
