An introduction to the benefits and value of a CEEQUAL assessment

CEEQUAL promotes improved sustainability in project specification, design and construction and demonstrates the commitment of the civil engineering industry to environmental quality and social performance.

It rigorously assesses performance across 12 areas of environmental and social concern, rewarding projects on which clients, designers and constructors go beyond the legal and environmental minima to achieve distinctive environmental standards in their work.

Launched in 2003, CEEQUAL is becoming widely adopted in the industry as the assessment and awards scheme for civil engineering projects. Over 70 Awards have been made so far and a further 150 projects are currently being assessed. The total value of projects that have been or are being assessed now exceeds £13 bn.

Roger Venables, CEEQUAL’s Chief Executive, will explain what CEEQUAL is, how it works, its industry-wide adoption, and outline the benefits and value in using CEEQUAL on civil engineering and public realm projects, including infrastructure associated with building developments.
