Tuesday 02 March
14.30 - 18.00 - Press Room

For centuries water has shaped the way in which the British and the Dutch live. Between the two nations a wealth of knowledge and experience has been built up about flood-proof design and build. With the expected changes in climate both countries are developing new strategies and solutions to keep their feet dry.

This workshop consists of presentations on present and future answers to flood-risk area development. Leading policy makers, engineers and architects from both the UK and the Netherlands will be speaking at this event, including Phil Rothwell (Environment Agency), Marnix de Vriend (Royal Haskoning), Frank Kelly, Research and Development Consultant, UK Flood Barrier and Robert Barker (Baca Architects). The symposium will be chaired by the Homes and Communities Agency (former English Partnerships).

Attendees will be given an unique opportunity to meet with and to learn from other flood professionals from both countries.
