Getting water wise

Getting water wise

Management of water in the built environment has never been more topical. These seminars provided practical guidance on the 2010 upgrade to building regulations, sustainable water use, and water management and efficiency in both new and existing buildings. The seminars also addressed rainwater harvesting, SUDS, and the role of planning in mitigating flood risk.

All sessions took place in the Victoria Room

The Victoria Room was sponsored by

10.30 – 12.00

Short cutting the water cycle using Rainwater Harvesting and grey water

Rainwater harvesting (RWH) and grey water usage can both alleviate the risks of flooding and reduce water demand – in effect short-cutting the water cycle.  But what are the pros and cons of these systems? And where are they best utilised for maximum effect?  How does RWH fit into the management of the water cycle?

10.30 – 11.00 Integrated water resources management in development:opportunities and constraints in RHW and greywater recycling
Quentin Dawson, Sustainability Consultant – Water Resources, Hilson Moran
11.00 – 11.20 Rainwater harvesting – doing what it says on the tin...
Terry Nash, Director, UK Rainwater Harvesting Association
11.20 – 11.40 Rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling - an overview and update on latest developments
