Director of Strategic Design, Finnish Innovation Fund, formerly Associate Professor of Architecture at Harvard Design School and design educator and lecturer
Marco directs Sitra’s internal strategic design efforts, charting new forward-oriented opportunities to help Sitra meet its mission of enhancing Finland’s national innovation ability and well being. In addition to Helsinki Design Lab he is responsible for the concept and design-development of Low2No, a transitional strategy to create sustainable urban development models in Finland through the implementation of a large scale development project in downtown Helsinki.
Prior to Sitra, Steinberg served (1999-2009) as a Professor at the Harvard Design School where his work focused on developing strategic design processes. He was the Principal Investigator of the Stroke Pathways project: a redesign of the stroke care delivery system, aimed at identifying strategic improvements in care through a systemic, inception to implementation, model. His research and work has extensively integrated with industry and government.
He received his BFA and BArch from Rhode Island School of Design and his MArch with Distinction from the Harvard Design School.
