award winning journalist and Editorial Director, Building Design, formerly editor of the RIBA Journal and an honorary member of the RIBA and a regular contributor to both the Independent and the Observer

Amanda Baillieu is an award winning journalist and Editorial Director of Building Design. She was previously editor of the RIBA Journal, and has contributed regularly to both the Independent and the Observer. She was a Stirling Prize judge in 1999 and 2000, and currently sits on the Newham Design Panel and the British Society of Magazine Editors.

Well known for her provocative views and stimulating writing, she led the campaign to save Robin Hood Gardens, the post war housing estate in east London, and is the author of a book on contemporary architecture, and is a regular commentator on both radio and TV.

She was made an Honorary Fellow of The Royal Institute of British Architects in 2006.  She lives in north London.
