Conference review 2018Tuesday 24 April
For the 2018 ecobuild conference a broad, cross-sector steering group was convened. The first decision which received unanimous agreement was that the focus of the conference should be on how to deliver the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and particular how to do so in the United Kingdom. A wide ranging number of topics were put forward and these were explored and developed sufficiently for final preferences to be made by the steering group. This list was then sent out to a wider industry survey. It can be said that the topics discussed at the ecobuild conference in 2018 were truly those that the industry requested.
The purpose of this report is to capture the key points made by speakers and resulting from wider discussion with the audience. Each chair was asked to encourage the speakers and the audience to put forward three recommendations and also to answer this question: what is the one thing that government could do to help deliver the SDGs? At the same time, a selection of expert industry members were each asked to review a session and a combination of the two comprise the content for this report.
