ecobuild 2018: Like no ordinary trade show04 August 2017
From the moment I set up Futurebuild Events to acquire ecobuild, I made it our mission to refresh the format for the 2018 edition, and make sure it is nothing like an ‘ordinary’ trade show.
But we understand that achieving this can’t be done in isolation – it needs the support, insights and expertise of the industry. Our role is to facilitate, not dictate.
So, with that in mind, we have launched two groups to help shape the format and direction of the event.
An advisory board and steering group will be on hand over the next few months to help us make sure ecobuild is the platform to share ideas, learn about the latest innovations and establish new, valuable relationships.
The groups are already providing key insights and feedback to help us prioritise the agenda and offer the best possible experience for all attendees and partners.
We’ve had some fantastic feedback from exhibitors, visitors, stakeholders and media partners so far and the responses are very encouraging. From this, three key themes for the 2018 event have been identified; leadership and innovation, housing and social inclusion – overcoming inequality and energy, resources and infrastructure. These topics are set to play a leading role in the centrepiece ecobuild 2018 conference.
The groups have also called for various types of sessions to take place, so you’ll be seeing more panels, contentious debates, question time-type events, lectures and soap-boxes at ecobuild 2018.
We have a job to do, and that is to give built environment professionals a voice and evolve ecobuild around the things that truly matter to them – rather than us simply dictating an agenda.
This is just the start. We’ll be taking our efforts online in the coming week to gather your feedback and input into the show, so watch this space.
