Chris is a renowned sustainability specialist with a particular interest in where we go next for the built environment and the communities it serves. His background is in integrated building design, planning & implementation, running his own independent consultancy after 28 years with Arup as director & Arup Fellow.

His projects span the world, with many firsts, including zero carbon and extra-low resource use prototypes, as well as wider Eco-city masterplanning and projects, working in many locations across the globe. Chris was a leading contributor to the BedZED project; on Portcullis House in Westminster; Kings Cross Central; Stratford City; Madinat Al Irfan - Omran, and the Kingspan Lighthouse - the first to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes level 6.

The premise behind much of his current work is that using less natural resources should mean sustainability costs less than business-as-usual.

Chris is a chartered engineer, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, Energy Institute corporate member, EDGE think tank Committee member, UK Green Building Council Ambassador, UK Chapter of the Chinese Green Building Council member, regular Chatham House participant, Historic England Urban panellist, Haringey Quality Review panellist, and Design Council:CABE design review panellist. In 2014 he founded the consultancy practice of Twinn Sustainability Innovation.
