Nick has worked for Skanska for ten years. He started as a site-based Environment Advisor on the £1 billion redevelopment of the Barts and Royal London Hospitals, at the time Europe’s largest healthcare scheme. The role covered all aspects of sustainability including issues related to planning, design, procurement, demolition, construction, operation and maintenance and the management of trade contractors.
Later Nick took up the business-wide post of Sustainable Procurement Manager. He helped establish Skanska as a leader in Sustainable Procurement, taking a particular interest in the challenge of embedding responsible sourcing practices in a complex, trans-national supply chain. One highlight was successfully leading the application for funding from CITB which led to the founding of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, arguably now one of the most successful ever cross-industry initiatives.
