Sue Riddlestone OBE
Sue co-founded Bioregional in 1994 with Pooran Desai. They initiated the iconic BedZED eco-village in London, where they live and where Bioregional has its headquarters. BedZED was the inspiration for the creation of the One Planet Living sustainability framework, which has been used in over $30billion of real-estate development around the world. Sue and the team work with partners to create ground-breaking One Planet Communities and eco-products and services which enable us to live happy, healthy lives, within in the natural limits of our one planet, including new the major new eco-tourism destination Villages Nature Paris, led Euro Disney and Groupe Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs, and NW Bicester eco town. Sue is currently establishing a new Bioregional property company to build truly affordable one planet communities.
Sue led Bioregional’s efforts in lobbying international governments to create what became the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. In particular, she worked with international partners and governments to ensure the critical issue of sustainable consumption and production (SCP) was properly recognised in the Goals. Bioregional now co-chairs the UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development Network, a multi-stakeholder initiative working to implement the SDGs in the UK.
